Description:

Terra Energy is looking for a motivated professional to join our team, supporting our Piceance Basin asset. This position will be responsible for environmental compliance of facilities associated with Terra Energy’s Piceance Basin operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Spill Response Support
    • Respond to routine spills and releases of E&P wastes related to oil and natural gas operations.
    • Collection, preparation, and shipment of environmental samples
    • Interpretation and reporting of laboratory analytical data
    • Preparing and submitting various required COGCC reports (Form 19s, Form 27s, FIRRs, Form 4s), and correspondence with COGCC staff as needed
    • Working and communicating closely with operations (Production and Construction) staff
    • Perform routine tracking and prepare summaries of spill data and COGCC inspection report data
  • Spill Remediation and Cleanup Support
    • Conduct field screening measurements and interpret results
    • Monitor physical cleanup of contaminated media and make appropriate field recommendations and decisions
    • Communicate with regulatory agencies, landowners, disposal facilities, and operations personnel
    • Must be willing and available to provide immediate spill response and support at any time (nights, weekends, holidays).
  • COGCC Field Inspection Reports and Response Support
    • Monitor and respond to routine COGCC Field Inspection Reports (FIRs)
    • Review and analyze COGCC corrective actions for compliance with applicable COGCC rules
    • Prepare and submit routine Field Inspection Report Responses (FIRRs) to COGCC.
  • Provide support with other environmental programs and projects as needed
    • Waste management compliance and support
    • Compliance with COGCC rules regarding ground water and public water supply protection requirements (Rules 615 and 411)
    • Provide environmental training to operations staff
    • Prepare and provide environmental performance data / metrics
    • Routine communications with TEP management and operations personnel
    • Special projects and assignments as needed

Required Qualifications:

  • B.S. degree in environmental or earth sciences (or equivalent)
  • 5+ years of proven experience with oil and gas operations
  • Specific experience in the collection of environmental samples (soils, surface water, and ground water) is highly desirable
  • Working knowledge of COGCC regulations
  • Ability to accurately assess threats stemming from environmental incidents to public health, safety, welfare, and the environment, and to initiate appropriate responses
  • Sound aptitude and ability to work with environmental databases, spreadsheet development, and basic GIS mapping skills.  A working knowledge of the COGCC COGIS data base is preferred.
  • Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Be attentive to details and possess good decision-making skills
  • Ability to work independently and meet critical regulatory deadlines

This position is eligible to participate in the company’s 401(K) program and is eligible for an annual bonus. The salary range for the position is $85,000 – $100,000, based on knowledge, skill, ability, experience and performance.
