What is minimum pay/suspense?

When are royalty checks issued?

Royalty checks are issued on or around the 25th of each month. If this date falls on a Saturday, Sunday, or National Holiday, your check will be issued the preceding business day.

What should I do if my check is lost, stolen or becomes stale dated?

    • Checks must be cashed within 180 days of issue date. If your check is stale dated, please notify us via energylink.com or email at royaltyowner@terraep.com

Who do I contact with login issues or when having trouble viewing check detail on EnergyLink?

Please contact the EnergyLink Owner Relations Support at 1-888-573-3364 or support@energylink.com

What is my Tax ID?

Your Tax ID is either your Social Security Number (SSN) or Employee Identification Number (EIN) which we must have on file for reporting and identification services. If a Tax ID fails to be provided, the IRS requires tax withholding in accordance with federal law, which will not be refunded.

How long will it take for you to respond to my email, call or correspondence?

Terra strives to respond to calls within 2 business days and to email and correspondence within 2 weeks.  During times of heavy inquiry volumes or complex accounting questions, this time may increase.

When will I receive a 1099?

1099 Misc Forms are required to be mailed out by January 31st. Please contact the Owner Relations Department if you have not received your 1099 by the third week of February.

Royalty interest owners receiving more than $10 and working interest owners receiving more than $600 annually will receive an IRS Form 1099.

Why is backup withholding deducted from my royalty check?

If you do not have a valid Federal Tax ID, either a Social Security Number (SSN) or Employee Tax Identification Number (EIN), on file for reporting and identification services, the IRS requires Terra to withhold taxes in accordance with federal law until a correct number is provided.

Foreign persons are subject to a withholding tax in accordance with federal law.

How do I change my name in Terra Energy’s records?

Please mail in a copy of one of the following documents:

      • Marriage Certificate
      • Divorce Decree
      • Legal Court Order Change

For more information on ownership changes, please click here.

What should I do when an interest owner of a property has passed away?

Please notify Terra and provide a copy of the death certificate. The account may be placed in suspense until proper documentation has been received and the payments may be directed to the estate or correct heirs.

The requirements for Ownership Transfers due to death vary by state and are dependent on whether or not the decedent had a will. For more information, please contact Terra Owner Relations or click here.

What is required to add my spouse to my account?

A recorded conveyance document is required to transfer interest from you to you and your spouse. Documentation must be recorded in the state and county where the minerals reside. Please notify Terra Owner Relations if you would like the interest suspended temporarily or if royalty payments should be continued until the transaction has been completed.

Why is my royalty payment different every month?

      • Oil and gas volumes and/or prices vary month to month
      • Operational occurrences such as the well being shut-in for repairs or weather conditions impact the volumes produced and sold
      • Adjustments to prior volumes or values may have been applied
      • New wells start producing and older wells may go off production

What options are available to receive royalty payment detail?

Terra offers online access to royalty payment detail through www.energylink.com or in paper form that is mailed out each month XXXXXXXX.  Please contact Terra Owner Relations if you have questions about your payment detail.

Why are royalty payments suspended?

For your protection, payments are suspended upon a title dispute, legal action, the assignment of interest, notice of death, transfer of property, or in the event of no known address. Keeping your information updated can prevent this inconvenience.

What is a division order?

A division order is a directive signed by the interest owner verifying to the purchaser or operator of a well the decimal interest of production owned by the interest owner. Also, it provides basic ownership information including the interest owner’s address and tax identification number (Social Security Number or Employee Identification Number).

How much is my property worth?

Due to the many variables involved in determining the estimated value of your property, Terra cannot provide such valuations. We recommend you contact an oil and gas broker in the area where the property is located in order to obtain this type of valuation.
